Not yet, thank goodness. Unfortunately, it seems to be something that comes with the territory in pharmacy. We got quite a bit of training on it at PharmSchool, too.
I can note two quite scary realities of the profession:
Firstly, I've worked with about twenty pharmacists, and of those over the age of thirty, almost all of them had been in an armed holdup. In some cases, they were threatened at knifepoint whilst the drug safe and registers were cleaned out.
Secondly, that five of the seven pharmacies I've worked at in the last 12 months have either had armed holdups or after-hours 'smash and grabs' in that time.
I'm just thankful that not only are the people whom were in said holdups okay, but also that I wasn't working late when someone tries to break in.
